Responsibilities

We are actively hiring for an Registered Nurse (RN) PreOp PACU.

  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA.
  • Assess patient’s preoperative and postoperative status at intervals according to facility or health care organization policies and procedures, including assessment of the cardiovascular system, respiratory system and airway management needs, neurological system, hemodynamic stability, pain and comfort needs, and mental status.
  • Interpret information accurately from various noninvasive and invasive monitors.
  • Describe the underlying pathophysiology of commonly encountered disease processes.
  • Describe the physiology associated with various anesthesia techniques and surgical or procedural interventions.
  • Apply the relevant scoring system/discharge criteria for patient transfer (e.g., Aldrete Score, Modified Aldrete Score [i.e., PARSAP], Post Anesthesia Discharge Scoring System [PADSS], White score) accurately as defined by organizational policy.
  • Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care.
  • Implement the plan of care including interventions such as managing patient recovery from anesthesia (general, monitored anesthesia care, regional, local), protecting the patient from injury, communicating patient status, providing pain management, administering medications safely, maintaining wound and tissue perfusion, managing co-morbid conditions, and educating the patient or support person.
  • Evaluate the patient’s progress towards outcomes and transfer care as needed.
  • Provide accurate hand-off reports, delegate tasks appropriately, document care thoroughly, collaborate with other disciplines, participate in quality improvement, and maintain professional competencies.
  • Act as a patient advocate, ensure privacy and confidentiality, comply with policies, participate in team activities, demonstrate fiscal responsibility, and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
  • One year of Preoperative or PACU experience required.
  • Medical/surgical nursing experience preferred.
  • Current state licensure in good standing.
  • Successful completion of BLS/BCLS within 90 days of employment.
  • Successful completion of ACLS within 90 days of employment.
  • PALS certification is required if pediatric care is included in the scope of services.

USD $48.00/Hr. - USD $53.00/Hr.
