Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Surgicare Mansfield is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Preop/PACU role. The position focuses on continuous, high-quality nursing care for patients recovering from anesthesia, ensuring safety, comfort, and privacy throughout the perioperative process.

Weekdays only with no holidays, weekends, nights, or on-call requirements. Graduation from an accredited RN program and active Texas RN license are required, along with BLS and ACLS; PALS if required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited RN school of nursing.
• Active RN license in the state.
• BLS and ACLS required; PALS if required by the center.
• 2 years PACU or CCU experience preferred.
• Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment.
• Strong communication and workload prioritization abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous nursing care before and after surgery in PACU.
• Assist physicians in procedure rooms with conscious sedation and sterile technique.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for discharge readiness.

Registered Nurse Preop/Pacu at Baylor Scott & White Surgicare Mansfield

The PreOp/PACU Registered Nurse provides continuity and quality nursing care for all patients, with continual evaluation of the patient's condition, providing patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all times. May assist the physicians in the procedure rooms with various tasks, including conscious sedation, and utilizing sterile techniques as deemed appropriate. Will provide total comprehensive patient care to patients emerging from general anesthesia and/or sedation; assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient and family in preparation for discharge. Experienced in surgical procedures in the following specialties: General, Robotic, Colon & Rectal Surgery, ENT, Gastroenterology, Orthopedics, Podiatry, Urology, Gynecology, Spine, and Pain Management.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing
• Active RN license in the state
• BLS and ACLS Required, PALS if required by the center
• 2 years of experience in PACU or Critical Care preferred
• Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment
• Able to prioritize and organize workload to meet the needs of patients and the unit
• Strong communication skills, verbal and written
