The department consists of eight OR suites with mutli-services provided to our community including pediatrics. Registered Nurses will care for patient’s pre-op and post anesthesia during an array of surgical procedures.

Nursing skills gained on this unit:

• IV starts, Patient Teaching/Education, Surgical knowledge base, ACLS, PALS
• PACU- epidurals, CADD pumps, vent management, art lines, assessment skills, lab draws, PCAs, pain/nausea management, ACLS, & PAL
• Davinci Robotic & Aquablation (first in IU System to start this) cases
• Oncology procedures

• Team had multiple RNs recommended for the Daisy award in 2023
• Five team members received the lasting Impression Award
• Two team members received the A Culture of Excellence Award (ACE)
• Three team members achieved certifications in their specialties

Qualifications

• Greater than one year of RN experience
• Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
• Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
• Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
