Qualifications

• Active RN license in the practicing state.
• Experience in perioperative nursing, PACU, or pre-op preferred.
• Knowledge of anesthesia, surgical procedures, and post-op care.
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Compassionate, patient-centered approach with excellent communication.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• BLS and ACLS certification required; perioperative certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patients in the pre-operative and PACU settings to ensure safety and stability before and after surgical procedures
• Prepare patients for surgery by reviewing medical histories, explaining procedures, and addressing concerns
• Administer medications and interventions as prescribed, and manage pain and discomfort
• Continuously evaluate patient responses to anesthesia and surgical interventions, adjusting care plans accordingly
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and thoroughly
• Educate patients and their families on post-operative care, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions
• Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols and safety standards

Skills and Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
• Proven experience in perioperative nursing, PACU, or pre-op nursing preferred
• Strong knowledge of anesthesia, surgical procedures, and post-operative care
• Excellent assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Compassionate, patient-centered approach with excellent communication skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
