Job summary

Pardee UNC Health Care is seeking a Clinical Nurse for the Pardee Ambulatory Surgery Center. Reporting to the Nurse Manager/Director, you will coordinate and deliver patient care using the nursing process in a hospital setting.

The role requires NC RN licensure, BLS, and ACLS/PALS certifications. One year of RN experience in acute care is preferred. This is a full-time, on-site position at the Pardee Mills River location.

Qualifications

  • Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina or a compact state.
  • BLS certification required.
  • PALS certification preferred; ACLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administers patient care under physician supervision and collaborates with the care team.
  • Documents care plans, nursing care provided, and patient responses.
  • Delivers competent clinical nursing care in line with policies and procedures.
  • Organizes and prioritizes care, consults resources for complex cases, and assists with discharge planning.
  • Collaborates with peers to foster clear intra/interdepartmental communication.
  • Synthesizes data to determine care priorities and anticipates discharge needs.
  • Communicates care plans with patients and families using active listening and cultural competency.
  • Promotes clinical and operational excellence through education and training.

Summary:

Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Administers patient care under the direction of a physician. Identifies and pursues expected patient outcomes in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Reports and records the plan for care, nursing care given, and the patient’s response to that care.
  • Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies and procedures.
  • Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient/family needs. Consults with appropriate resources in a timely fashion regarding patients with complex care issues, unusual teaching needs and/or those at high risk for discharge planning.
  • Collaborates with peers in a clinical operations environment, including fostering intra/interdepartmental communication.
  • Synthesizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care, including appropriate physical, psychosocial, education and safety needs. Assesses and anticipates discharge needs of individual patients and families.
  • Communicates with patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care using cultural competency and active listening. Develops relationships with patients and their families that promote their ability to advocate for patient and family needs.
  • Develops clinical and operational excellence in self and in peers through education and training.
  • Promotes a safe, clean and secure hospital environment for all, including the application of standard precautions and principles of infection control.
  • Ensures competency in all required skills and completes competency assessment annually per the documented competency checklist. Adheres to documented policies and processes as well as performing other related duties as assigned.

Other information:

Required

  • Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina or one of compact states by the day of clinical care.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Preferred

  • One (1) year of experience working in a registered nurse role in an acute care/ inpatient hospital setting.
