Job summary

Indiana University Health seeks a Clinical Nurse (RN) to provide and coordinate evidence-based care across the care continuum at our Carmel, IN site.

The role emphasizes collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, adherence to ANA standards, and ongoing mentoring and teaching of staff. ASN is required with BSN preferred, and active IN/NLC RN licensure is mandatory.

Qualifications

• ASN or higher nursing degree required.
• Active RN license in Indiana or NLC required.
• Graduation from a nationally accredited nursing program; exceptions only with >2 years acute care experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department policies.

Responsibilities

Overview

The registered professional clinical nurse (RN) is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of competent, evidence-based care along the care continuum, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The clinical nurse participates in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve outcomes and enhance operational efficiency. The nurse adheres to the ANA Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.

• Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
• Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
• Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
