Job summary

St. David's North Austin Medical Center in Texas is seeking a Postpartum Registered Nurse to educate and assist new mothers during the postpartum period on a Mother Baby Unit. You will assess mother and newborn health, plan and evaluate care, and provide direct nursing care while supervising staff.

BLS and NRP certification are required, with RN licensure in Texas or a compact license. Experience includes 1 year as an RN and, preferably, 1 year of acute care.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of clinical nursing experience as an RN.
  • 1 year of acute care experience – preferred.
  • Current State of Texas RN license or Compact RN license; if Compact, Texas license within 90 days.
  • BLS certification required; NRP certification required.
  • RNC-OB – preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments for mother and baby following care standards.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate care plans to optimize outcomes and resources.
  • Provide direct nursing care and supervise non-licensed staff within RN scope.
  • Educate and emotionally support patients, recognizing postpartum depression signs.

  • You will perform comprehensive nursing assessmentsregardingthe health status of thepatient (both mother and baby), following standards of care and disease specific protocols.
  • You will plan,implementand evaluate patient care plans tooptimizeoutcomes and maximize available resources.
  • You will provide direct nursing care and supervise non-licensed nursing staff within the RN’s scope of practice andin accordance withestablished policies.
  • You will provide education and emotional supportappropriate toage, culture, condition, and circumstance andrecognize and respond to symptoms such as those related topostpartumdepression.

Job Requirements

Experience
