Job summary

Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas is seeking a Perioperative Circulator RN to oversee nursing care in the perioperative setting. You will assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate care, and supervise assistive personnel in the operating room.

Responsibilities

• Collects patient health data relevant to the operative or invasive procedure and analyzes the data to determine nursing diagnosis and expected outcomes.
• Develops an individualized plan of care to attain expected outcomes and implements the identified plan of care.
• Provides assistance with preparation of the patient to include proper positioning, prepping, pre-operative medication, and proper use of body mechanics.
• Demonstrates competency to properly handle and document all specimens,
• Implements operational standards promoting patient rights, privacy, treatment explanations, confidentiality, and handling complaints.
• Assist staff in the set up and tear down of supplies and equipment in the operating room.

Summary/Objective

The Perioperative Circulator RN is accountable for the quality of care of nursing care rendered to patients. The Circulator assumes responsibility for assessing, diagnosing, identifying outcomes, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care of patients. Additionally, the Circulator role includes directing and supervising nursing care for patients in the perioperative setting. The Circulator is responsible for determining the educational and competency level of assistive personnel that he/she is delegating care.

Required Education and Experience
