JOB RESPONSIBILITIES-

Registered Nurse - Pediatric Intensive Care Unit

RN - PICU

Full-Time

Registered Nurse candidates for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit will have the following job responsibilities:

  • The PICU RN will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to critically ill pediatric patients, working alongside a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent clinical skills, a strong understanding of pediatric care, and a commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of children and their families during times of medical crisis.
  • Direct Patient Care: Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill infants, children, and adolescents in the PICU, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and managing complex medical devices and equipment.
  • Assessment & Monitoring: Perform thorough assessments of patients, including history, physical examination, and interpretation of diagnostic results. Monitor patient conditions, recognizing changes in status, and respond to emergencies promptly.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with pediatric intensivists, respiratory therapists, child life specialists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
  • Patient and Family Education: Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and progress. Provide emotional support and education to families during challenging and stressful situations.
  • Care Coordination: Coordinate and prioritize patient care needs, ensuring timely interventions and efficient transitions of care within the unit and across other departments.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records, documenting care activities, progress, and any changes in the patient's condition.
  • Patient Safety: Follow hospital policies and protocols to ensure patient safety and the prevention of complications. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and report any safety concerns or adverse events.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing education, training, and certifications to stay current with pediatric nursing practices and advancements in critical care.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS-

Registered Nurse - Pediatric Intensive Care Unit

RN - PICU

Full-Time

Registered Nurse candidates for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit must meet the following minimum job qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program
  • Alaska Registered Nurse License upon hire
  • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire
  • National Provider PALS - American Heart Association within 90 days of hire
  • 1 year Nursing experience.

Compensation

Base Salary - USD $104,060 to $137,877
