Job summary

Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest is seeking a Registered Nurse to support pediatric oncology patients across inpatient and outpatient services. You will coordinate care, assist with education, and participate in chemotherapy administration as needed.

The role requires BLS and PALS within 30 days, PA RN licensure, and EMR proficiency. This is a day-shift, onsite position with a focus on quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in nursing required.
• 1 year of experience in pediatric acute care or 1 year of experience with pediatric outpatient RN infusion.
• Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania within 30 Days
• PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support - State of Pennsylvania within 30 Days
• CPHON-Cert Peds Hematology Oncology RN ONCC - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
• RN - Licensed Registered Nurse_PA - State of Pennsylvania
• CPN - Certified Pediatric Nurse (preferred) Upon Hire

Responsibilities

• Provides coordination of care across the continuum (inpatient/outpatient/community) to ensure appropriate utilization of clinical and community resources.
• Assesses patient readiness to learn, ensures education materials are appropriate, and evaluates the effectiveness of patient education.
• Supports the delivery of oncology-specific treatment including symptom management, mixing chemotherapy treatments, and administering chemotherapy as requested.
• Maintains clinical competence and demonstrates proficiency with network quality improvement initiatives.
• Provides phone advice to patients and responds to patient inquiries.
• Performs selected administrative functions to support patient care delivery and administrative office responsibilities.

Physical Demands

Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
