Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced registered nurse to join a pediatric unit delivering care from birth to adolescence. You will assess and document care, coordinate a multidisciplinary team, and ensure quality outcomes in a 40+ bed unit.

The role emphasizes discharge planning, patient education, and collaboration with families, physicians, and support staff. Acute care pediatric experience and current RN licensure are required.

Qualifications

• Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice or compact licensure.
• BLS certification is required.
• Experience in an acute care pediatric unit is preferred.
• Bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Post-offer health assessment, drug screen and background check required.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, evaluate and document nursing care for pediatric patients.
• Provide medical care to children from birth through late teens in a 40+ bed pediatric unit.
• Care for patients with orthopedic, surgical, GI, neuro, endocrine, oncology and general pediatric conditions.
• Review patient histories, diagnostics and lab data and report abnormal results.
• Formulate and revise individualized plans of care and discharge plans.
• Deliver direct patient care and coordinate, delegate and supervise healthcare team activities.
• Evaluate patient and family responses to care and teaching.
• Document nursing assessments, interventions, physician orders and patient responses.
• Participate in research, shared leadership, education, orientation, precepting and mentoring.
• Contribute to nursing quality improvement and patient outcome initiatives.
• Interact with staff, physicians, patients, families, external providers and clergy.

Requirements

• Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice
• BLS certification is required
• Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice
• Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions require a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting
• Experience must include working in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area
• RN Pediatric experience required
• Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area of work through annual validations
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Professional certification preferred
• Completion of post-offer Occupational Health physical assessment, drug screen and background check is required
