Job summary

SoftPath Medical in Lafayette, IN seeks a Registered Nurse for a Medical Progressive Care Unit (MPCU) focusing on oncology, stroke, and cardiac, GI and pulmonary care. Strong neurological nursing experience is required.

Shifts include three 12-hour and four 12-hour options; care includes Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin drips. ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS are mandatory; pending licenses accepted. Unit ratios: 1 nurse per 5–6 on med-surg, 1 per 3–4 on PCU.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Care for a mixed acuity unit with medical-surgical and PCU patients.
• Manage oncology and stroke care, including neurological nursing responsibilities.

Unit Description

This is a mixed acuity unit caring for medical patients alongside some progressive care unit (PCU) level patients.

The unit specializes in oncology and stroke care.Patient ratios include:

• Medical-surgical patients: 1 nurse to 5-6 patients
• PCU patients: 1 nurse to 3-4 patients

Care includes management of Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin drips.Patients may include unstable stroke cases and those requiring BiPAP support.

The Medical Progressive Care Unit (MPCU) is a dynamic mixed acuity environment combining medical-surgical and progressive care levels.

Areas of focus include oncology, stroke, cardiac, gastrointestinal, and pulmonary care.

Strong neurological nursing experience is required.Applicants with experience in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry or PCU nursing are encouraged to apply.
