Job summary

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth is hiring an RN for night shift in Hinsdale, IL. The role involves caring for patients in a high-acuity setting, with rotating weekends and holidays, and a Clinical Ladder program for salary increases based on performance.

Starting pay is $37.50/hr with opportunities for up to 20% salary increases. 36 hours per week, 6:45pm–7:15am, benefits included. Valid RN license and BLS required.

Qualifications

• RN licensure required.
• Associate degree in nursing required.
• BLS/CPR certification required.
• 1+ acute care hospital setting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure appropriate use and stewardship of medical supplies and equipment to support patient safety and operational efficiency.
• Ensure safe and effective handoff communication and documentation.
• Follow isolation guidelines, use PPE correctly, and maintain safety standards.
• Promote a positive patient experience through caring, clear communication, and teamwork.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring patient safety.

Job Details

Eligible clinicians have the opportunity to earn salary increases of up to 20%* through our Clinical Ladder Program based on experience, professional development, and achievement of advancement criteria. Clinical Ladder participation is voluntary. Salary adjustments are determined by program eligibility, advancement level, and organizational guidelines.

• Follows CDC isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of PPE, performs hand hygiene according to policy and enforces safety regulations.
• Promotes a positive patient experience by demonstrating caring behaviors, maintaining clear communication, and collaborating with the care team to provide safe, timely, and effective whole-person care.

• Demonstrates critical thinking skills appropriate to patient's level of care.
• Collects and documents patient health data systematically and timely.
• Conducts thorough, ongoing assessments of patients, analyzes assessment data and develops individualized, evidence-based plans of care.
• Implements interventions from the plan of care timely, safely, and appropriately, documenting actions taken.
• Collaborates and promotes timely patient placement by following hospital policy for patient admission, discharge, and transfer.
• Participates in peer interviewing as needed.
• Administers medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and adherence to protocols.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, physicians, and staff, maintaining professional relationships and promoting a positive environment.
• Educates patients and families on health conditions, procedures, and care plans, ensuring understanding and compliance based on assessed needs.
• Maintains compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies ensuring legal and ethical practice.
• Participates in initiatives related to quality, safety, effectiveness, efficiency, and impact on practice in the delivery of nursing services.
• Serves as a patient advocate, ensuring patient rights and needs are respected and addressed.
