Job description

Townsen Memorial is hiring for a Full-Time Registered Nurse PAT for our location.

Summary

The Registered Nurse, PAT is responsible for coordinating the pre‑admission testing (PAT) and interview/assessment process for patients scheduled to undergo an invasive or surgical procedure. The role includes communicating with providers and/or their office staff regarding patient testing results to optimize the patient’s condition prior to surgery.

Essential Functions
  • Ensures supplies and equipment needed are available and in good working order.
  • Explains nursing procedures and actions taken to help reduce anxiety.
  • Assesses patient’s physical and mental status.
  • Documents patient care delivered accurately in the medical record.
  • Implements doctor's orders in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Coordinates patient care; provides explanations and teaching to patients and families.
  • Plans for routine events and anticipates, prevents, and manages emergent situations.
  • Adapts to unexpected changes.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities.

Education and Experience
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing.
  • Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.
  • One (1) year of perioperative nursing experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification or requirement to obtain within 60 days of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification or requirement to obtain within 60 days of hire.
