Job summary

Mercy, a trusted healthcare provider, seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Critical Care Stepdown unit. This part-time role supports 24 hours per week with day or night shifts, delivering patient-centered care during transition from critical care to Med/Surg.

The position emphasizes collaboration, evidence-based practice, and ongoing professional growth. Qualified candidates will have an accredited nursing degree, Missouri RN license or compact license, and BLS certification, with BSN

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ADN, Diploma, or BSN).
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care for intermediate-acuity patients transitioning from critical care to Med/Surg level.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care using evidence-based practices.
• Perform accurate hand-offs and bedside shift reporting to maintain patient safety.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practitioners, and multidisciplinary partners to optimize patient outcomes.
• Administer medications, monitor complex conditions (cardiac, respiratory, post-ICU), and support recovery.
• Participate in huddles, shared governance activities, and unit-based quality improvement initiatives.

24 hours per week (Days or Nights)

What You'll Do

Qualifications

Education

Licensure

• Current Missouri RN license or compact license.

Certifications

• Required: BLS (American Heart Association).
• Preferred: ACLS, NIHSS, PCCN, or other Stepdown-related certifications.
