Job summary

Taconic Hills Central School District is seeking a Part-Time Registered Nurse (RN) to support Elementary and Jr/Sr High School students. You will provide professional nursing care, monitor health needs, and maintain records under the supervision of the Student Support Administrator.

The position runs Monday–Friday, 12:00 PM–4:00 PM for a 10-month period (September–June) with a September 8, 2026 start date and professional development days on 9/1-9/2/2026.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN with current NYS registration and three months of hospital or skilled nursing facility experience.
• Good knowledge of current professional nursing practices and procedures.
• Ability to assess needs and communicate effectively with students, families, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Performs assigned nursing activities and administers medications/treatments as required.
• Assess patient nursing care needs.
• Maintain essential health care records and reports.
• Give skilled nursing care and prescribed treatment to student patients.
• Identify physical illness of student patients through observation and records.
• Counsels and guides individuals in illness prevention and health recovery.
• Performs related work as required.

Job description

We are currently looking for a Part-Time Registered Nurse (RN) to support both the Elementary and Jr/Sr High School.This work involves the performance of professional nursing activities in the care, comfort and well-being of student patients. Works under the general supervision of the Student Support Administrator with a degree of latitude permitted for independent judgment in nursing care skills and patient needs. May exercise some supervision over subordinate staff. Does related work as required.

Hours: Monday-Friday, 12:00PM - 4:00PM, 10 Month Position (September - June)

Start Date: September 8, 2026 (Plus Professional Development days on September 1 & 2, 2026)

Typical Work Activities:

• Performs assigned nursing activities, procedures and administers specified medications/treatments as required;
• Assess patient nursing care needs.
• Maintains essential health care records and reports as necessary;
• Gives skilled nursing care and prescribed treatment to student patients.
• Identifies physical illness of student patients through observation and analysis of records.
• Counsels and guides individual in the prevention of illness and the attainment of health recovery.
• Does related work as required.

Full Performance, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics: Good knowledge of current professional nursing practices; skill in the application of current nursing procedures and techniques of patient care; ability to assess the needs and concerns of people and maintain constructive working relationships in dealing with them; ability to communicate effectively; ability to accept and utilize guidance; ability to perform duties in accordance with the ANA code for Professional Nurses; Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Minimum Qualifications: Registered Professional Nurse License.Completion of a course of study approved by the NYS Education Dept. as qualifying as a Registered Professional Nurse and three months of hospital or skilled nursing facility experience.
