Job description

Stearns Weaver Miller Weissler Alhadeff & Sitterson, P.A., a full-service law firm serving clients throughout Florida, is seeking a Registered Nurse Paralegal with 5+ years of experience to work with their medical malpractice and general liability litigation team in the Fort Lauderdale office.

Responsibilities:

• Assist attorneys with medical evidence preparation and organization for depositions, hearings and trial – compile witness specific medical records to assist with provider depositions/trial
• Review and analysis of medical records to evaluate care and status of the claimant/plaintiff
• Preparation of medical chronologies, case specific timelines and medical summaries
• Assist with retention, communication and preparation of expert witnesses and expert materials
• Assist with discovery and medical research, including case analysis memoranda for attorneys
• Create outlines and narrative summaries, chronologies of medical records and correspondence and reports from expert opinions for clients

Qualifications:

• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Research, analytical, organizational and critical thinking required
• High degree of initiative and the ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple tasks
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Flexibility to work overtime
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Proficient understanding & utilization of medical technology, anatomical drawing, laboratory technology and medication
• Possess thorough understanding of medical conditions to explain a diagnosis
• Minimum of 6-8 years of experience as a registered nurse
• 5+ years of law firm experience

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required
• Paralegal Certification preferred

Technical Knowledge:

• Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; general knowledge of AI platforms
• Familiarity in using an electronic document management system. Experience in iManage is a plus
