Overview

When you join the growing BILH team, you’re making a difference in people’s lives. West PACU is a 26 bed unit that cares for inpatients and outpatients who have anesthesia for a variety of surgical and procedural interventions. The unit is opened 24/7 and works closely with the Department of Anesthesia. ICU experience is preferred for overnight care of many ICU patients in the unit.

Job Summary

The BIDMC Nursing Mission is to build on a legacy of nursing excellence by caring with compassion, advancing the art and science of nursing, and advocating for the health of patients, families, and communities. The Clinical Nurse II utilizes the nursing process as the frame of reference for practice as a professional registered nurse and provides direct nursing care to patients and families. Training, evaluation and competencies for this role are overseen by a Nurse Leader to the department.

Essential Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to patients and make necessary nursing judgments. Assess health care needs of individuals or groups, formulate a care plan, implement and evaluate it.
• Demonstrate decision-making ability by integrating theoretical knowledge with practical experience in caring for patients.
• Coordinate the care of patients and direct assistive personnel to deliver safe, effective, efficient, equitable and timely, patient-centered care. Identify resources needed to implement the plan of care.
• Work in a collegial and collaborative relationship with other health professionals to determine healthcare needs of patients and families. Develop relationships with patients and families that maintain trust and respect. Communicate effectively. Act as a patient advocate.
• Maintain annual mandatory education requirements, including emergency skills and unit-based competencies. Identify needs for continued growth and development with the unit-based educator or clinical nurse specialist. Participate in quality improvement activities as appropriate.
• Demonstrate commitment to patients, staff, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Ensure accountability for own nursing practice and patient safety.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program. Baccalaureate degree in Nursing strongly preferred.
• Licensed Registered Nurse; Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• 1–3 years related work experience required.
• Basic familiarity with computers and the ability to navigate web-based applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a teaching hospital and specialty area expertise.

Age Based Competencies

Physical Nature Of The Job

Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. The job is physical in nature and requires standing and moving around through the majority of the shift.

Pay Range

$38.00 – $98.19 per hour. The listed pay range is the base hourly wage the organization reasonably expects to pay at this time. Actual compensation is determined by factors including seniority, education, training, experience, certifications, geography, job responsibilities, and applicable laws. Pay may be higher with shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime, and other pay practices.
