Job summary

MetroHealth Main Campus Recovery Room/PACU is seeking a registered nurse to deliver post-anesthesia care for pediatric through adult patients. You will manage airway, monitor hemodynamics, control pain, and support recovery progression after surgery.

Shifts rotate with 72 hours bi-weekly and call responsibilities. You will work with OR/ ED/ Inpatient teams to ensure safe, efficient post-op care and smooth patient transitions.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Ohio or eligible for licensure.
• Experience in perioperative or PACU nursing is preferred.
• Ability to manage airway and monitor post-anesthesia recovery.

Responsibilities

• Provide post-operative care in PACU for pediatric to adult patients.
• Monitor vitals, airway, pain control, and recovery progression.
• Collaborate with OR, ED, anesthesia, and surgical teams.

Primary Patient Population

• Pediatric through Adult
• Immediate post-operative period

Primary skills utilized/learned

• Maintain patient airway
• Assess hemodynamic stability and support
• Monitor sedation, neurological, neuromuscular, and sensory motor status
• Provision of adequate pain and comfort measures
• Assess Wound/incision integrity
• Overall patient assessment

Personnel RN will work with

• OR/ ED/Inpatient RNs, Pre/Post Phase 2 staff, Anesthesia staff, Surgeons, PT, Radiology, Pharmacy

Number of OR Suites/Cases

• 26 beds (Bay platform)
• 40-50 surgical cases daily
