36 hours, Day/Night, Every 3rd Weekend

Department Overview

The Menino PACU/Pre‑Operative Unit is a 52‑bay integrated procedural platform that delivers advanced intensive care monitoring and pre‑operative care. It serves as a holding area for procedural patients requiring specialized cardiac and interventional care, and operates as a high‑acuity recovery area for patients directly from the OR/Procedural areas.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing rules and regulations.
• Provide nursing assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, and coordination of care for patients and their families.
• Participate in clinical, educational, quality, and fiscal patient care outcomes using the department’s model of care.
• Follow established agency policies, procedures, protocols, guidelines, and standards of practice.
• Effectively delegate appropriate patient care activities and manage stress related to critical patient issues.

Education

• Diploma, ASN, or BSN (BSN preferred).
• Must obtain a BSN within 4 years if not current.

Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations

• Licensed as a registered nurse in Massachusetts.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.

• Basic computer proficiency for accessing, entering, and interpreting electronic data.
• Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Organizational skills to set priorities and efficiently complete assigned work.
• Multilingual skills beyond English preferred.

Experience

• At least 1 year of nursing experience.
• Critical Care experience required (PACU, ED, ICU).
• Previous or current PACU experience strongly preferred.

Compensation

Base pay range: $38.05 – $75.33 (estimates based on minimum qualifications). Total compensation includes benefits, contract increases, flexible spending accounts, 403(b) matches, paid time off, and career advancement opportunities.
