Job summary

Odessa Regional Medical Center is seeking a PACU Registered Nurse to care for patients recovering from anesthesia in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit. The role emphasizes vigilant monitoring, timely interventions, and patient education in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications include a Texas RN license with BLS/ACLS; PALS is preferred. A minimum of 1 year of experience and strong critical thinking are required to provide high‑quality perioperative care to diverse patients.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Texas.
• BLS and ACLS certifications.
• PALS preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Compassionate and patient-centered care approach.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and document vitals: BP, HR, RR, SpO2, temp.
• Assess level of consciousness and orientation.
• Administer pain and nausea medications.
• Watch for bleeding, hypotension, or arrhythmias.
• Dress wounds and assess surgical drains.
• Educate patients and families on post‑op care.
• Notify surgeons/anesthesiologists of patient status.
• Transfer patients to next destination within hours.

Job Summary:

As an PACU Registered Nurse, you will care for patients recovering from anesthesia and surgery in a Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).

• Check blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, and temperature
• Check the patient's level of consciousness and orientation
• Administer medications to treat pain and nausea
• Look for signs of bleeding, low blood pressure, or arrhythmias
• Dress wounds and assess drains
• Teach patients and their families about post-operative care
• Update surgeons and anesthesiologists on the patient's condition
• Transfer patients to the next destination, usually within a few hours

Qualifications:

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
• BLS and ACLS certifications
• PALS preferred
