Job summary

Novant Health Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville, SC seeks a PRN PACU RN to support our perioperative team with flexible scheduling and weekend/on‑call commitments.

You will monitor heart rate, blood pressure, airway, and pain control, document assessments and interventions, and collaborate with anesthesiologists and surgeons to guide patients from recovery to discharge. Active RN licensure in SC is required; one year of PACU experience is preferred; BSN is preferred.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree; RN licensure in SC required.

Responsibilities

  • Patient monitoring: monitor vitals, consciousness, and oxygen saturation.
  • Airway management: maintain airway patency and assist with ventilation as needed.
  • Post-operative recovery: manage pain, nausea, and other side effects.
  • Assessment: evaluate for post-operative complications.
  • Documentation: accurately document assessments and interventions.
  • Collaboration: coordinate care with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and nurses.
  • Discharge education: provide recovery instructions to patients and families.

  • Location: 1000 Medical Center Dr., Hardeeville, South Carolina 29927

  • Status: PRN

  • Schedule: Shifts available M-F 0630-1500 or 0730-1600, 3 shift minimum requirement and 3-4 call shifts per schedule including one 24 hour weekend call.

What You'll Do
  • Patient Monitoring: Continuously monitor heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and consciousness levels.
  • Airway Management: Maintain airway patency and administer oxygen as needed.
  • Post-Operative Recovery: Administer medications to manage pain, nausea, and other side effects.
  • Assessment: Evaluate patients for post-operative complications such as hemorrhaging or infection.
  • Documentation: Accurately document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses to treatment.
  • Collaboration: Work with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and nurses to coordinate care.
  • Discharge Education: Provide instructions to patients and family members regarding recovery.
What We're Looking For
  • Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred.
    • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.
  • Experience: One year relevant experience, preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required.
