Job summary

IU Health's PACU in Carmel, Indiana seeks an experienced RN to contribute to a weekday-focused, 32-bay unit delivering focused recovery care for adults and pediatrics.

You will join a team known for collaboration with anesthesiologists and surgeons, with a 1:1 pediatrics and 1:2 adult patient ratio, to ensure high-quality post-anesthesia care.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in Indiana or NLC required; BLS certification required.
• Minimum two years of RN experience in acute care requested.
• ASN required; BSN preferred; nationally accredited program graduation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality recovery care in the PACU with 1:1 for pediatrics and 1:2 for adults.
• Collaborate with OR nurses, anesthesiologists and surgeons to ensure patient safety.
• Support a weekday-only schedule in a fast-paced, supportive unit.

• 10-10:30mid shift,self-scheduling,mid-shifthours;on-callcoverage

Nursing skills gained on this unit:

• Critical thinking at an ICU level of care
• Management of chest tubes, ART lines, new tracheostomy
• Airway management for adults, pediatrics, and tracheostomy patients
• Interdisciplinary collaboration with OR nurses, advanced practitioners, surgeons, and anesthesiologists

Qualifications

• Requires Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Education: The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
• Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if theypossessmore than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
• Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
• Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
• Other Advanced Life Support certifications may berequiredper unit/departmentspecialty according to patient care policies.
