Job summary

The Same Day Surgery/PreOp unit in Berkeley, CA is seeking a dedicated registered nurse to provide high-quality patient care from admission to discharge in a fast-paced perioperative setting. You will work four 10-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, with occasional on-call.

Requires CA RN license, ACLS and BLS, and a minimum of 2 years' clinical experience. You will coordinate care with the PACU and surgical team, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and cost-conscious care while managing

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care from admission to discharge in the Same Day Surgery/PreOp unit.
• Ensure the safety, comfort, and personal hygiene of patients while performing disease prevention and restorative measures.
• Respond to medical and environmental emergencies.
• Plan and coordinate care delivery, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
• Serve as a liaison between nursing and medical staff for collaborative patient care.
• Coordinate involvement of patient, physician, family, and health team members to achieve optimal patient care.
• Set priorities and direct emergency interventions efficiently and competently.
• Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of patients and families.
• Ensure nursing process is individualized to meet patient needs, including assessment, care plans, education, and discharge planning.
• Monitor patients at risk and implement precautions to reduce risks.

Unit Information

Work in the Same Day Surgery/PreOp unit, floating between PACU and Same Day Surgery (Phase I and Phase II areas).
