Summary
The Registered Nurse - PACT RN (Pain Clinic) is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based, gender-specific care to primary care patients, with oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants as appropriate to the setting.
Qualifications Basic Requirements:
- English Language Proficiency
- In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7403(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless proficient in basic written and spoken English.
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (ACEN or CCNE) at the time the program was completed.
- OR individuals attending a master's level bridge program in nursing with coursework equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- Upon licensing, individuals may be appointed temporarily and later converted to a permanent appointment upon graduation.
- Foreign nursing graduates must possess current, unrestricted registration and may require degree validation.
- Current, full, active, unrestricted registration as a professional nurse in the U.S. or its territories.
- Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) exception: candidates without licensure may be appointed temporarily while pursuing licensure.
- Grade determinations are based on education and experience, with specific criteria outlined for each nurse level.
Preferred Experience: 2-3 years in medical/surgical, outpatient, pain, or home care settings; critical thinking; effective communication; team collaboration.
Physical Requirements include walking, bending, stooping, lifting, and extended sitting.
Duties include providing direct Veteran care, managing patient panels, health promotion and education, nursing education and orientation, quality improvement, and integrating outpatient nursing knowledge to manage complex situations.
