Job Responsibilities

The registered professional clinical nurse (RN) is accountable for the provision and coordination of evidence-based care across the care continuum, including assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The clinical nurse participates in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance patient care, achieve outcomes, and enhance operational efficiency. Duties may include symptom management, direct in-clinic patient care, telehealth services, and quality improvement activities.

Position Details

This position provides ambulatory RN support to our General Surgery Clinic, assisting with inbox management, phone triage, patient calls, result calls, medication refills & authorizations, vaccine administration, nurse visits, scheduling, and patient education. The role supports General Surgery services, including Surgical Oncology and Acute Care Surgery (Trauma and Emergency General Surgery), across our West and North clinics, with cross-coverage phone triage when needed.

Clinic hours are from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Flexible scheduling options include four 10-hour shifts. No weekends, no holidays, and no on-call responsibilities. Med/Surg experience is preferred.

Qualifications
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department policies.
  • Requires an Associate of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Active RN license in Indiana or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Two years' experience in an ambulatory setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of clinical procedures and familiarity with necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple functions for effective patient care.
  • Understanding of legal implications related to patient care activities.
  • Ability to assess patients remotely without face-to-face interaction.
