REGISTERED NURSE - ORTHOPEDIC SPINE DEPARTMENT - 36 HOURS - NIGHT SHIFT


Full Time Benefit Eligible


Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, Rotating every other weekend


GENERAL SUMMARY:


Unit Description:


Henry Ford St John Hospital's 7 North is a 33-bed unit consisting of orthopedic & neurosurgery patients. We also take overflow med/surg patients as well as some telemetry patients. Our unit is fast paced, typically consisting of 7-8 RN's and 3 PCTs daily, and we typically see anywhere from 3 to 12 surgeries on a daily basis where we handle the postoperative care.Day shift RNs typically have a patient ratio of 3-4 patient to 1; night shift RNs typically have a patient ratio of 4-6 patients to one.   • Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.

  • Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.

  • Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.

  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.

  • Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:



  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire. No additional preferences.
