Novant Health’s Orthopedic Specialty Care Unit (OSCU) is a 42-bed unit focusing on mobility, recovery, and function after orthopedic procedures and trauma. You will work alongside surgeons, therapists, and an interdisciplinary team to provide high-quality care through structured workflows and patient-centered approaches.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in NC is required.
• BSN preferred for this ortho unit role.
• One year of relevant experience preferred.
• Acute care nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries and trauma.
• Monitor patient conditions, manage pain, and support post-operative recovery.
• Educate patients and families on recovery plans, mobility goals, and discharge instructions.
• Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons, therapists, and care team members.
• Assist patients in achieving mobility and rehabilitation milestones.
• Coordinate care to ensure safe, efficient transitions from hospital to home or rehab.
• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care that promotes positive outcomes.

What We Offer

Join Novant Health's Orthopedic Specialty Care Unit (OSCU), a 42-bed unit dedicated to helping patients regain mobility, restore function, and return to the activities they love. You'll care for patients recovering from elective orthopedic procedures and orthopedic trauma cases while collaborating with orthopedic surgeons, rehabilitation specialists, and an experienced interdisciplinary team committed to remarkable patient outcomes.

• 42-bed orthopedic specialty unit with a1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Small hospital environment backed by the resources ofNovant Health Presbyterian Medical Center
• Mostly scheduled surgical cases, providing a predictable and structured workflow
• Close collaboration with physical therapy, occupational therapy, and rehabilitation teams
• Average patient stay of 2-3 days, allowing you to see patients progress through recovery

What You’ll Do

• Assist patients in achieving mobility and rehabilitation milestones
• Coordinate care to ensure safe, efficient transitions from hospital to home or rehabilitation settings
• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care that promotes positive outcomes and patient satisfaction

What We’re Looking For

• Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.
• Experience: One year relevant experience, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required.
• Acute care nursing experience preferred
• Strong communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills
• Passion for helping patients achieve recovery goals and improve quality of life
