Job summary

Surgery Partners Brand is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Operating Room in Texas. The role focuses on patient advocacy, collaboration with the healthcare team, and delivering continuous care aligned with the facility's philosophy and goals.

You will assess patient needs across adult, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric populations, perform timely documentation, and participate in staff meetings to maintain high standards of safety and care.

Qualifications

  • Current Texas RN license.
  • BLS certification.
  • ACLS or successful completion within 3 months of hire date.
  • At least 1 year OR experience including neuro-spine, spine and orthopedic joint.
  • Must possess organizational skills to function in a fast paced OR environment.
  • Scrub experience or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Performs assessment/data collection focusing on physiologic, psychological and cognitive status.
  • Formulates a goal directed plan of care based on nursing diagnosis and patient outcomes.
  • Implements care in a knowledgeable, skilled manner to reach patient outcomes.
  • Establish priorities of patient care based on needs and available resources.
  • Performs efficiently in emergency situations following protocols and documents events.
  • Demonstrates knowledge in medical/surgical patient care, pain assessment, pharmacology, labs, safety and legal issues.
  • Uses sound decision making to identify and resolve problems.
  • Documents care in patient records timely and concisely.
  • Works as part of a team delivering patient care.
  • Maintains BLS and ACLS certification.
  • Attends mandatory in-services and staff meetings.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
  • To act as patient advocate, providing continuity of care designed to meet individual patient needs through collaboration with other members of the healthcare team and supporting the philosophy, objectives and goals of the facility. The Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing the needs of individual patients including but not limited to adult, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients.
REQUIREMENTS:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Performs assessment/data collection in an ongoing and systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, psychological and cognitive status.
  • Formulates a goal directed plan of acre, which is prioritized and based on determined nursing diagnosis and patient outcomes.
  • Implements care in a knowledgeable, skilled consistent manner in reaching the desired patient outcomes through nursing processes.
  • Establish priorities of patient care based on essential patient needs and available center resources of time, personnel, equipment and supplies.
  • Performs efficiently in emergency patient situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons and documenting events.
  • Demonstrates applied knowledge base in areas of medical/surgical patient care, pain assessment and actions of pharmaceuticals and anesthetic agents, laboratory values, safety and legal issues and all emergency equipment.
  • Practices effective problem identification and resolution skills as a method of sound decision making.
  • Performs documentation duties on the floor and in the patient record, which is timely, accurate and concise.
  • Works as part of a team in delivering patient care.
  • Maintains BLS and ACLS certification as required.
  • Attends all mandatory in services and participates in staff meetings.
  • Remains flexible, adaptive and able to accept and implement new ideas and approaches.
  • Treats all patients equally adopting the hospital’s Patient Rights policy.
  • Reviews and carries out physician orders in an appropriate professional manner.
  • Willingness to assist with other duties when asked.
