Job summary

Pyramid Healthcare's Freedom Detox in Gastonia, NC is seeking a compassionate Part-Time Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support detoxification services. You will conduct assessments, monitor clients, administer medications, and document care while maintaining a calm, therapeutic environment.

The role emphasizes bedside manner, teamwork with clinicians, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted North Carolina RN license.
• Current, unrestricted North Carolina LPN license.
• CPR/BLS and First Aid certification.
• Experience in behavioral health or detox is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct nursing assessments and monitor clients throughout the shift.
• Administer medications safely per physician orders.
• Monitor withdrawal symptoms using detox protocols.
• Complete COWS and CIWA assessments as per protocol.
• Educate clients about medications and treatment plans.
• Coordinate with on-call providers for assessments and changes in condition.
• Respond to medical/behavioral emergencies with sound judgment.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation.
• Ensure equipment and supplies are maintained and functional.

Make a Difference When It Matters Most

Freedom Detox, a Pyramid Healthcare program, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Part-Time Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our nursing team in Gastonia, NC.

In this role, you'll provide safe, high-quality medical care and support to adults receiving detoxification services. We're looking for a clinician with a strong bedside manner, excellent customer service skills, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to remain calm and effectively de‑escalate challenging situations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Conduct nursing assessments and monitor clients throughout the shift.
• Administer medications safely, accurately, and in accordance with physician orders.
• Monitor and manage withdrawal symptoms using established detoxification protocols.
• Complete COWS and CIWA assessments according to clinical protocol.
• Educate clients regarding medications, treatment plans, and the recovery process.
• Coordinate with on‑call medical providers regarding client assessments, medication needs, and changes in condition.
• Respond appropriately to medical and behavioral health emergencies using sound clinical judgment.
• Utilize effective de‑escalation techniques to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough clinical documentation.
• Ensure medical equipment and supplies are maintained and functioning properly.
• Complete required trainings, certifications, and continuing education requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Registered Nurse (RN)

• Current, unrestricted North Carolina RN license.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

• Current, unrestricted North Carolina LPN license.

Both Positions

• Current CPR/BLS and First Aid certification.
• Previous experience in behavioral health, detoxification, addiction treatment, or substance use services is preferred but not required.

• Working knowledge of medication administration standards, clinical documentation requirements, and applicable federal and state regulations.
• Dedication to maintaining client confidentiality, professional boundaries, and high‑quality patient care.
