POSITION SUMMARY: The staff RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care of patients undergoing surgical intervention. The RN is directly responsible to the Nurse Manager. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed in the department’s policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS: Formal training which will probably be indicated by a graduation certificate from an accredited RN program. Current license to practice nursing in Mississippi. Advanced cardiac life support certification, Basic life support certification, and Pediatric advanced life support certification. Prefer 1 year Surgical Nursing experience in the Operating Room.
