University Clinical Health is seeking a Perioperative (OR) Registered Nurse to assess, plan, implement and coordinate patient care from admission to discharge.

The RN must have an accredited nursing degree, TN licensure, and current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications within 90 days; CNOR is required. A preference for CNOR; the role involves collaborating with the surgical team and ensuring patient safety throughout the perioperative process.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
• Current state RN licensure to practice (TN) required.
• Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS/BCLS) within 90 days of employment.
• Successful completion of ACLS within 90 days of employment.
• Successful completion of PALS within 90 days of employment.
• CNOR perioperative nursing certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Advocate for the patient before, during, and after surgery.
• Monitor and record the patient's vitals pre-operation.
• Prepare the surgical tools and materials needed during the operation.
• Record all aspects of an operation, including tools, medications, and times.
• Advise the surgical team on potential harm to the patient during surgery.
• Assist surgeons during the surgery if needed.
• Escort patients to the recovery room post-operation.
• Clean the operating room post-operation.
• Account for all tools used during the procedure.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Summary:

The Perioperative (OR) Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and coordinating patient care from admission to discharge. In addition, the Registered Nurse is responsible for the achievement of patient outcomes through implementing critical pathways and in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of the facility.

Key Results Areas (KRAs):

• Acting as an advocate for the patient before, during, and after surgery
• Monitoring and recording the patient's vitals pre-operation
• Preparing the surgical tools and materials that the surgical team will need during the operation
• Recording every aspect of an operation, including the names and titles of those performing the surgery, the tools used, the amount of anesthetic a patient received, and how long the surgery took
• Advising the surgical team on potential harm to the patient during surgery
• Assisting surgeons during the surgery if needed
• Escortig patients to the recovery room post-operation
• Cleaning the operating room post-operation
• Accounting for all tools used during the procedure
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Education & Experience:

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing. At least one year of OR circulator experience preferred
• Current state licensure to practice required
• Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment required
  • o Current BLS/BCLS certification documentation
• Successful completion of ACLS Course within 90 days of employment required
  • o Documentation of current ACLS certification
• Successful completion of PALS Course within 90 days of employment required
  • o Documentation of current PALS certification, if requested by supervisor.
• Specialty certification in Perioperative Nursing recommended (CNOR) required
