Parkland Medical Center in Derry, NH seeks a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our perioperative team. The role requires NH or compact-state RN licensure, an Associate Degree in Nursing, and 1–3 years of experience, with certifications in ACLS, BLS, and PALS within specified timeframes.

Qualifications

• ACLS within 60 days of employment start date.
• BLS within 30 days of employment start date.
• PALS within 30 days of employment start date.
• RN licensure in NH or a compact state; ADN required.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough patient assessments and plan/implement care per unit standards.
• Monitor and assess patients receiving conscious sedation per policy.
• Carry out circulating duties according to surgical procedures and protocol.
• Assist with scrub duties per surgical protocol.
• Utilize equipment effectively for procedures and seek resources when needed.
• Maintain knowledge of surgical procedures and related nursing care.
• Communicate peri-operatively with patient family members.
• Show initiative to support colleagues across OR and other units.
• Complete peri-operative nursing documentation accurately (site confirmation, ID checks).
• Demonstrate professional, respectful conduct; restock, clean and return equipment as needed.

Position Details

• POSITION SUMMARY:

  The Registered Nurse demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in planning for the care of the patient. The Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for the planning, directing, and provision of nursing care to patients in accordance with the N.H. Nurse Practice Act, recognized nursing techniques, and both clinical and administrative policies.

  SPECIFIC ELEMENTS & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Performs a thorough assessment in accordance with unit standards and or patient condition, and based on this assessment, plans and implements care appropriately.

  2. Provides monitoring/assessment of the patient receiving conscious sedation in accordance with policy.

  3. Performs circulating duties according to procedure, demonstrating skill and efficiency, displaying the surgical consciousness required within this highly specialized environment.

  4. Performs scrub duties according to surgical protocol.

  5. Demonstrates ability to properly utilize all equipment for specific procedures or seeks appropriate resource.

  6. Assumes responsibility for knowledge of surgical procedures and associated nursing care. Seeks appropriate resource when necessary.

  7. Provides communication/visits peri-operatively to the patient’s family and or significant other.

  8. Demonstrates self-direction above and beyond daily assignments and actively offers assistance to colleagues both within the main OR’s, cardiac OR’s and various other surgical services units.

  9. Demonstrates ability to accurately and thoroughly complete peri-operative nursing record documentation, i.e. surgical site confirmation, patient identification verification.

  10. Demonstrates collegially behavior of respect and consideration with regard to work environment, i.e. restocking rooms, returning equipment/supplies for other surgical procedures, cleaning work areas/station and or communicate as appropriate. Performs all other duties as assigned.

What qualifications you will need

• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• (RN) Registered Nurse state of NH or compact state licensure
• Associate Degree in Nursing
• 1 -3 years experience Required Years of Experience; Previous Critical Care Experience Preferred (ED, ICU-1-2 years)
• Certification preferred
