GENERAL OVERVIEW:

The Registered Nurse assesses human responses and plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for individuals or families. The RN is fully responsible for all actions as a licensed nurse and is accountable for the quality of care provided. Care is primarily delivered in an outpatient surgery center.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide transformational leadership in a professional setting, contributing to the future of healthcare.
  2. Collaborate as a team player, mentoring and role modeling to help others succeed.
  3. Assign or delegate tasks based on patient needs and staff skill levels, including duties during charge roles.
  4. Maintain a safe environment, considering patient condition, intervention complexity, and expected outcomes.
  5. Provide verbal and written feedback to peers on clinical practice and performance.
  6. Share knowledge and foster a positive, collaborative work environment.
  7. Accept mistakes, promoting a culture of safety, creativity, flexibility, and resilience.
  8. Work with an interdisciplinary team to evaluate clinical care and health services.
  9. Promote patient safety initiatives and participate in quality improvement projects.
  10. Supervise and evaluate LPNs and other support staff as appropriate.
  11. Use the nursing process to assess, plan, evaluate, and implement patient care tailored to individual needs.
  12. Develop culturally and age-appropriate expected outcomes involving patients and families.
  13. Assess health status and compare data to norms to identify care needs.
  14. Monitor patient condition changes, notify physicians or supervisors, and document interventions.
  15. Accept assignments outside primary units within your competency.
  16. Commit to lifelong learning and professional development.
  17. Participate in professional organizations and continuous education using current research and evidence-based practices.
  18. Engage in peer reviews and seek feedback to identify strengths and areas for growth.
  19. Adhere to time and attendance policies.
  20. Focus on patient and family satisfaction, acting as an advocate and participating in satisfaction initiatives.
  21. Communicate compassionately and address patient/family concerns.
  22. Manage time effectively to complete duties within shifts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

  • Completed RN training and hold PA RN licensure or have applied for a practice permit.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance.
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance.
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance.

Preferred:

  • Specialty certification.
