Qualifications

• Education: Completion of a two-year training at an accredited School of Nursing.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years in Operating Room for external candidates; 1–2 years in relevant department for Per Diem status.
• Licenses: Current New York State RN license; BLS/ACLS; TCAR; PALS and TNCC within first year.

Responsibilities

• Collect patient health data with patient, family, and other providers.
• Perform initial assessment based on patient presentation.
• Record data on the nursing component of the Interdisciplinary Admission Assessment.
• Demonstrate awareness of age and cultural needs served.
• Perform ongoing assessments per department policy and patient response.
• Incorporate discharge planning into the admission process.
• Analyze data to determine problems and expected outcomes.
• Communicate outcomes to patient, family, and other providers.
• Develop a plan of care with interventions to reach outcomes.
• Document the initial plan and provide updates as required.

What You'll Do

• Collect patient health data by involving the patient, family, and other health care providers.
• Perform initial assessment based on patient's presentation.
• Record relevant data on the nursing component of the Interdisciplinary Admission Assessment.
• Demonstrate awareness of the special needs of each age group or culture served.
• Perform ongoing assessments as established by department policy and as warranted by the patient's response.
• Incorporate discharge planning into the admission process.
• Analyze assessment data to determine problem identification and expected outcomes.
• Communicate expected outcomes to the patient, family, and other health care providers.
• Develop a plan of care that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
• Document the initial plan of care and provide updates as required.

Requirements

Education:

• Completion of a two-year training at an accredited School of Nursing

Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of experience in the Operating Room for external candidates
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in relevant department for Per Diem status

Licenses & Certifications:

• Current New York State license as a Registered Professional Nurse
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• TCAR Certification (SICU & PACU within first year)
• PALS and TNCC for Emergency Department RNs (within first year)
