Registered Nurse - Operating Room Part-time Days with $2,500 Sign-on Bonus

Join Northwestern Medicine as a Registered Nurse - Operating Room, Part-time Days, with a $2,500 Sign-on Bonus.

Description

This position requires a minimum of 2 years of OR experience.

  • Internal employees are not eligible for the Sign-on Bonus.
  • Previous employees rehired within less than 1 year are not eligible for the Sign-on Bonus.

The Staff Nurse reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory standards.

The registered nurse assumes accountability for individualized, age-specific patient care from admission to discharge, providing direct care, collaborating with the healthcare team, and ensuring ethical decision-making, assessment, planning, education, and evaluation of nursing care.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Assessing and recording patient status upon admission.
  2. Organizing health data for accuracy and accessibility.
  3. Identifying urgent problems.
  4. Validating diagnoses with patients and team members.
  5. Documenting diagnoses and care plans.
  6. Developing and updating a problem list and plan of care.
  7. Discussing care plans with patients and families.
  8. Initiating discharge planning early.
  9. Assessing patient education needs.
  10. Arranging care conferences.
  11. Prioritizing evidence-based interventions.
  12. Providing patient and family education based on evidence and research.
  13. Documenting all assessments, interventions, and responses.
  14. Reviewing and updating the care plan regularly.
  15. Reassessing and communicating patient progress.
  16. Making appropriate referrals for continuity of care.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Current Illinois RN license.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Analytic abilities.
  • ADN acceptable with a commitment to obtain a BSN within three years.
