This 4-year initiative aims to answer key research questions needed to advance the scientific community's understanding of Long COVID and discover effective therapeutics to address it. The RECOVER Public Relations Manager position is part of the Clinical Science Core (CSC) whose purpose is to coordinate the development and implementation of master protocols; to provide expertise in clinical protocol design, implementation; and execution of large clinical research studies for the PASC grant. This is an interdepartmental effort that spans the Office of Science and Research, Department of Medicine, Department of Population Health, and Medical Center IT. Reporting to the Program Director, Communications and Engagement, the RECOVER Public Relations Manager takes responsibility for working with our research partners and a large network of participating clinical research sites to implement the study protocol and monitor study recruitment. While handling routine media inquiries and drafting responses in close coordination with the RECOVER communications director, the individual collaborates with the Office of Communications and Marketing (including the research communications team) prior to major RECOVER research milestones.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  2. Monitor press releases (issued by other institutions or NIH teams within RECOVER network) and track approvals; develop processes and SOPs
    • Ability to suggest edits on NYU Langone press releases written by research communications, which will be issued around only major RECOVER milestones and with support of NIH (RECOVER observational studies are fully enrolled; RECOVER launches its first clinical trials based on the preliminary findings of the observational studies; RECOVER study results published in journals or presented at medical meetings).
  3. Collaborate on the development of talking points and FAQs with partners at NIH, NYU, and RECOVER Administrative Coordinating Center

  7. Monitor advocacy groups requests
  8. Develop written responses to patient advocacy groups
  9. Catalogue written responses and inquiries
  10. Attend various community-based meetings to gather information and ensure RECOVER maintains an accurate understanding of the community
  11. Lead or participate in presentations, forums, and events to discuss RECOVER’s role, raise awareness on available resources, and educate the community
  12. Experience monitoring social media
  13. Conduct literature searches as needed
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.
