Overview

Qualified external applicants with at least six months of direct RN experience are eligible for a $20,000 sign-on bonus. To qualify, you must be hired into a full-time or part-time position; PRN positions are not eligible. Some exclusions apply. Apply to chat with a recruiter about the details! As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will be responsible for:

  • Facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with the healthcare team and patient/family to address physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
  • Promoting patient health, safety, and well-being through the nursing process, adhering to care standards, guidelines, and the State Nurse Practice Act.
  • Previous OR - Heart Team experience required.

Day-to-Day Duties

  • Circulating and/or Scrubbing on all cases.
  • Primarily working on GEN, Urology, Ortho (Totals/Trauma), Spine, Neuro, Plastics, Robotics (DaVinci XI), and Trauma cases.
  • Penrose specializes in Heart and Vascular surgeries with dedicated service teams for these specialties.
  • Cross-training for all other services is provided.
  • Providing supplies, sterile instruments, and support during operations.
  • Assisting with room turnover and preparation for the next day's cases.
  • Advocating for patients before, during, and after surgery.

Work environment includes 16 OR suites, with approximately 250-350+ cases monthly. Schedule: 40 hours/week with variable shifts based on surgical volume and unit needs. Call is required, averaging 1 call shift per week Mon–Thu, one Friday call every 4-6 weeks, and a 24-hour weekend call every 4-6 weeks, totaling 40-50 hours/month. A 30-minute callback radius is required.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates should have:

  • Associates Degree in Nursing (required); Nursing Diploma or endorsement acceptable.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred).
  • Graduates from accredited Nursing schools (required for new grads, preferred for experienced RNs).

Experience:

  • One year of preferred nursing experience.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • RN License required; current state license or valid RN license from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact.

Physical Requirements:

  • Medium Work – exerting up to 50 lbs occasionally, and up to 20 lbs frequently.
