Job summary

Northern Nevada Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room in Reno, NV. This full-time, day-shift role delivers direct patient care from infancy through geriatrics in the surgical environment, coordinating with surgeons and anesthesiologists for optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities include preparing equipment, supporting the surgical team, and participating in quality improvement activities. Candidates must hold NV RN licensure, BLS, ACLS; OR experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Current Nevada RN licensure is required.
• BLS certification is mandatory; ACLS preferred.
• Prior OR experience in outpatient or acute care settings is favored.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates communication between the surgical team and others outside the OR.
• Monitors case progress and reports any unusual events to the charge nurse.
• Obtains supplies and equipment needed for each procedure.
• Verifies suction, lights and other equipment are functioning properly.

Summary

This OR RN opportunity is full time and offers a convenient day shift schedule. This individual will provide direct patient care to infant through geriatric patient populations. Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment. Communicates with surgeon and anesthesiologist continuously and as needed about patient condition. Assists with the maintenance of surgical equipment and pain management inventory. Participates in performance improvement activities. Assesses operating room / procedure room for equipment functioning and readiness, obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs of surgical operating team are met. Monitors, positions and assists patient during procedure.

Minimum/Priority Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Nevada.
• Previous experience in an outpatient OR setting or in an acute care setting in the OR preferred.
• Current BLS certification.
• Current ACLS certification.
