Job summary

Baptist Health Care in Pensacola, FL seeks a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room FLOAT TEAM on a part-time basis. You will provide specialized perioperative nursing care, collaborate with surgeons and anesthesia staff, and support the OR team in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires strong clinical judgment, the ability to return within 30 minutes of a Callback, and adherence to Florida licensing and BLS requirements.

Qualifications

  • Nurse license in Florida or eligible compact state
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers (American Heart Association) required
  • Ability to return to the hospital within 30 minutes of a callback

Responsibilities

  • Assess and diagnose patient and family needs to provide quality care
  • Develop, discuss and communicate a care plan with patient/family
  • Implement medical plan of care and nursing interventions
  • Reassess care and patient responses to ensure quality
  • Maintain accurate nursing documentation for the health care team
  • Maintain current knowledge and licensure in nursing
  • Fulfill department duties and manage supplies
  • May act as charge nurse for on-call or holiday coverage

Job Description

The Registered Nurse manages individualized, goal directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures. This position provides care and education for the patient based on their illness, symptoms, and courses of treatment. This position is responsible for the delivery of quality care in designated areas of surgical services while meeting standards as set forth by the state, regulatory agencies, and facility policies and procedures. This position performs technical skills and provides assistance to surgeons, anesthesia personnel, and other professionals in the facility. This position maintains knowledge and skills required to perform as a professional registered nurse as well as those specific surgical services departments. This position promotes teamwork with all surgical team members and other departments. This position manages supplies and equipment effectively.

Responsibilities
  • Assesses and diagnoses patient and family needs in order to provide quality care to assigned patients.
  • Develops, discusses, and communicates a realistic problem list (plan of care) for each patient in collaboration with each patient/family/significant other to address all identified needs.
  • Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care, nursing interventions and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient.
  • Evaluates the identified problems, care provided, and patient’s responses are reassessed in order to meet patient and family needs to ensure overall quality of care delivered.
  • Maintains up to date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure the integration of information for use by the health care team, to ensure quality care.
  • Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure.
  • Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the department as defined in the scope of service, to ensure that the unique nature of the client is addressed.
  • Maintains supplies/inventory for department.
  • May be required to act as charge nurse for on call situations, holiday coverage, and/or as needed.
Qualifications
  • Technical Diploma/Certificate Nursing Required or
  • Associates Degree Nursing Required
  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing Preferred


Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Nurse Licensed State of Florida or eligible compact state Upon Hire Required and
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required


Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Demonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge and skills.
  • Must be able to return to the hospital/facility within 30 minutes of a Callback.
