Job Description

Plainfield Surgery Center is a multi-specialty ASC with 3 operating rooms and a GI Suite located in Plainfield on the Edward Campus. Our Center operates Monday through Friday, NO CALL, NO HOLIDAYS. We are seeking candidates who can help us provide the highest quality surgical care available.

Summary

The Operating Room Nurse delivers professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical procedures. The circulating nurse is responsible for assessing patient needs as well as ensuring the safety of the patient. The RN works collaboratively with other team members including anesthesiologists, surgeons, surgical technologists, and other personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Adheres to the Center’s policies and procedures and the Professional Standards of Nursing Practice.
  • Delivers professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical procedures.
  • Performs circulating functions including monitoring, recording, and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care before, during, and after procedures.
  • Monitors vital signs during the procedure and documents on the OR record.
  • Transports patients to the PACU post-procedure.
  • Prepares operating rooms for each surgical case.
  • Maintains and monitors the sterile environment. Assists with room turnovers including cleaning and mopping in preparation for subsequent procedures.
  • May participate in performance improvement and quality initiatives.
  • Complies with all Surgery Center policies/procedures, AORN, IDPH, CMS, and other regulatory agencies, standards, and guidelines.
Requirements
  • Current Illinois Nursing license required.
  • Seeking a minimum of one-year Operating Room experience preferred.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and think outside the box.
  • Two years orthopedic OR experience REQUIRED.
