Job summary

Uvalde Memorial Hospital is seeking a skilled Oncology Infusion Nurse (RN) for a PRN role in the Oncology Department. You will deliver infusion therapies, monitor patients, and coordinate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality cancer care.

The role requires an active RN license, BLS/ACLS, and oncology infusion experience. You will educate patients and families, document care, and support a compassionate, patient-centered environment during every treatment journey.

Qualifications

• Current RN license required.
• BSN preferred.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• ONS Provider Card and Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Administration cert required within 6 months of hire.
• Minimum of two years nursing experience; oncology/infusion preferred.
• Strong IV therapy and vascular access skills.

Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, hydration and infusion therapies safely.
• Monitor patients before, during, and after treatment; respond to reactions or complications.
• Perform venipuncture and access ports/central lines; manage vascular access devices.
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans, meds, side effects, and home care.
• Provide compassionate emotional support throughout treatment journeys.
• Collaborate with oncologists, pharmacists and interdisciplinary teams.
• Maintain accurate documentation following oncology, safety and regulatory standards.
• Help create a safe, welcoming environment for patients and families.

In This Role, You Will:

• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, hydration, and other infusion therapies safely and accurately.

• Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports and central lines, and manage vascular access devices.

• Collaborate with oncologists, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate individualized care.
• Maintain accurate documentation while following oncology, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Help create a safe, welcoming environment where patients feel supported every step of the way.

What We’re Looking For:

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
• BSN preferred.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Provider Card and Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Administration certification required within six months of hire.
• Minimum of two years of nursing experience required; oncology or infusion nursing experience preferred.
• Strong IV therapy and vascular access skills.
• Excellent critical thinking, communication, and patient education abilities.
