Job summary

ERP International is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to support the Oncology Clinic at Keesler AFB, MS. This role places you in a dynamic military medical environment where patient care and coordination are essential.

You will perform clinical assessments, administer chemotherapy, monitor patients, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality outcomes for service members, families, and veterans.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in nursing from ACEN/CCNE-accredited program.
  • Must have infusion center/clinic experience in past 24 months (12 months preferred).
  • Active, unrestricted RN license; Oncology Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) or obtain within 6 months.
  • Current BLS/ACLS certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate patient care with a wide range of healthcare professionals.
  • Administer medications, chemotherapy, wound care, and other interventions.
  • Assess patient history, conduct exams, and document in the chart.
  • Ensure compliance with standards of care and policies.
  • Lead and supervise care provided by other professionals as needed.

Responsibilities
Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 6:00am and 6:00pm, including a one hour lunch, 8 hour shift

No Weekends or Holidays!

Core Registered Nurse Duties
  • Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals. Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the MTF.
  • Perform physical exam and health histories.
  • Provide health promotions, counseling, and education.
  • Administer medications, wound care, and numerous other personalized interventions.
  • Direct and supervise care provide by other healthcare professionals.
  • Accountable for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level of assigned personnel.
  • Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations.
  • Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
  • Make referral appointments and arrange specialty care as appropriate.
  • Perform nursing services identified in the TO.
  • Conduct research in support of improved practice and patient outcomes.
Registered Nurse Duties
  • Acts as Hematology Oncology nurse in both in-patient and outpatient capacity.
  • Obtain patient history by reviewing medical information and interviewing patient and family. Assess a baseline status (e. g. physical, function, social and emotional).
  • Possess/maintain proper certification and skills to perform required duties within regulatory compliance and with minimal oversight but not limited to timeliness, accuracy, content and signature.
  • Assess symptoms at weekly treatment/status check visits. Assess problems that arise in between status check visits, either in the department or over the phone. Assess for long-term effects and follow-up visits. Integrates findings of assessment to correctly identify actual and potential problems.
  • Prepares the exam room and medical equipment for procedures to be performed.
  • Documents the procedures in the patient' s chart.
  • Provides appropriate nursing intervention for actual or potential problems that the patient and family may experience related to the disease and treatment processes.
  • Calculate body surface (BSA), medication dosage, and verify dosage on all medications administered. Review lab results prior to treatment to clarify patient is able to receive treatment.
  • Administer IV and subcutaneous (SQ) chemotherapy. Monitors patient receiving treatment. Manages urgent problems (e. g. allergic reactions, uncontrolled nausea, vomiting, and pain).
  • Ability to administer medications orally, intramuscularly, subcutaneously, intravenously, and topically.
  • Completes orientation and competency verification programs IAW unit guidelines.
  • Coordinates care for patients receiving multimodality treatment (e. g. provides patient calendar with dates of chemotherapy; communicates and collaborates with physicians and nurses in surgical and radiation oncology regarding timing of treatments and management of patient problems).
  • Coordinates care with primary physician, skilled nursing facility, rehabilitation, home care, and hospice as needed.
  • Coordinates transfers to emergency room or to inpatient units.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities.
  • Adheres to established aseptic procedures to protect patients from unnecessary exposure to infectious agent.
  • Cleans and prepares equipment. Disposes of infectious and hazardous waste materials IAW established procedures.
  • Act as an advocate for the patient and family and encompasses patient/family teaching, symptom management, counseling and age specific training. Informs patients and family members about self-care. Provides input for patient care planning.
  • Accurately educates patients and family members about the disease, the procedures needed, and the goals or treatment with chemotherapy; and coordinates patient care throughout the continuum of care and refers to social work consultation as needed.
  • Exemplifies and promotes professional responsibilities. Provides leadership, demonstrating honesty, integrity, accountability and responsibility in performance of daily activities. Participates in professional development of self and others. Participates in multi-disciplinary working groups implementing new standards/policy/directives for the Medicine Flight. Identifies training needs and provides reliable related in-service training to staff.
  • Will comply with the wear, use, and maintenance of all required personal protective equipment (to include, but not limited to respiratory protection) as required to perform normal duties, as identified by Bioenvironmental Engineering occupational health surveillance.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

*** Education:** Associates of Degree in Nursing. Graduate from an academic program, accredited by a regional or national nursing accrediting agency recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

***** Experience:** Must have been employed in an Infusion Center/Clinic within past 24 months with at least 12 months experience.

*** Licensure/Certification:** Active, unrestricted RN license from any state. Must maintain Oncology Nursing Society (ONS)/Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) Chemotherapy Biotherapy certification is required at hire or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.

*** Life Support Certification:** Possess and maintain a current BLS and ACLS.

*** Security:** Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearanc
