Job summary

ERP International is seeking a Radiology Technologist for full-time support at Keesler AFB, MS. The role involves performing diagnostic radiographic procedures, maintaining safety standards, and coordinating with radiologists and staff.

Responsibilities
Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday with a 9-hour shift between 6:00am-6:00pm with a 1-hour lunch, 40 hours per week

Job Specific Details and Tasks:
  • Perform routine diagnostic radiological procedures/services as appropriate to the TO.
  • Adhere to radiation safety policies and procedures in accordance with Radiology Department policies and procedures.
  • Send appropriate image series to the radiologist for reading according to MTF protocol.
  • Correctly position the patient for the examination and make technical adjustments necessary for the required examination. Determine if any special patient preparation is required.
  • Process digital images and submit for interpretation by radiologists.
  • Document all procedures and maintain records in accordance with MTF policy.
  • As directed, perform system calibrations and quality control tasks according to the manufacturer and MTF policy. Recognize artifacts and equipment errors and notify designated Government personnel of outlying values.
  • Initiate repair call procedures for equipment malfunctions by notifying designated Government personnel. Report problems to the Biomedical Repair Section and record the problem condition in the trouble call log book.
  • Observe and report to the radiologist any symptoms which have direct bearing on the patient's condition as a result of adverse reaction to contrast media and inform the radiologist of any condition requiring his/her attention. Recognize the need for and institute the necessary emergency measures for situations where a person requires resuscitation procedures due to cardiac or respiratory arrest.
Additional Duties Include:
  • Uses specialized equipment to perform bone density imaging
  • Selects imaging protocols and required accessories and makes adjustments based on the specific examination requirements, records and processes the image, manipulates the recorded image using computer applications
  • Assists physicians with fluoroscopic, interventional, surgical, and other special imaging examinations
  • Instructs patients preparing for procedures
  • Prepares and assists with contrast media administration
  • Maintains emergency response cart.
  • Assists physician in treating reactions to contrast material.
  • Prepares sterile supplies and equipment.
  • Operates accessory equipment such as automatic pressure injectors, digital imagers, and vital signs monitoring equipment. Performs image subtraction and manipulation techniques.
  • Performs and supervises general diagnostic imaging activities.
  • Cleans and inspects equipment and performs preventive maintenance.
  • Receives patients, schedules appointments, prepares and processes examination requests and related records, and processes images and reports.
  • Serves as clinical preceptor for other diagnostic imaging apprentices, etc. Provides clinical supervision and mentorship to students, as appropriate.
  • Effectively communicates and collaborates with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions.
  • Effectively uses appropriate communication format in addressing professional issues.
  • Must be able to synthesize data from a variety of sources and up-channel safety and medical concerns to the diagnostic imaging nursing staff, radiologists, and/or ordering providers.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • *** Education:** Certificate. Graduate from an academic program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).
  • *** Experience:** Minimum of 3 years of experience within the most recent 5 years with at least 2 of those years performing duties in a hospital setting performing portable imaging on inpatient, surgical, and emergent patients.
  • *** Certificate:** Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
  • *** Life Support Certification:** Current AHA or ARCBLS Certifications.
  • *** Security:** Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.
