Job summary

Prime Healthcare's Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, TX, seeks a dedicated Registered Nurse for the Newborn Nursery. You will provide specialized newborn care, support families, and apply the nursing process from admission through discharge.

The role is full-time, night shift, with 12-hour shifts. You must hold an active RN license and complete required certifications (BLS, NRP). Hospital experience in newborn or obstetric settings is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have current and valid RN license issued by the State.
• BCLS on hire and maintain current.
• NRP within 30 days of hire and maintain current.

Responsibilities

• Delivery of safe patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
• Direct patient care within the scope of practice.
• Respond quickly to changes in condition and ensure a safe environment for patients and visitors.
• Guide patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel.
• Utilize the chain of command to ensure patient well-being and appropriate care from post-delivery stabilization through discharge.

The Nursery Registered Nurse provides specialized care to newborn infants in the newborn nursery, typically within the first few hours to days of life. Their primary goal is to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of newborns, and to support new parents in early infant care.
