Job summary

University of California, San Francisco is seeking a registered nurse to support the Neurosurgery faculty practice at Parnassus. The role focuses on using the nursing process to assess patient needs and guide them through pre- and post-operative steps, while coordinating care with neurosurgery physicians.

The incumbent will uphold UCSF infection control, safety, and clinical practice standards across ambulatory services, with flexibility to rotate among UCSF Medical Center locations as required.

Qualifications

• Two years or more recent RN experience in Neurosciences or Neuro ICU.
• Clinical competence and in-depth knowledge in neurosurgical nursing.
• Ability to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical support to neurosurgery patients and physicians.
• Assist in preoperative and postoperative patient education and navigation.
• Ensure infection control and safety compliance per UCSF policies and procedures.
• Support across UCSF Ambulatory Services and Medical Center locations.

The incumbent’s primary role will be to provide clinical support to all neurosurgery patients and physicians at the Parnassus neurosurgery clinic. This individual supports the standards of the policies and procedures of the Neurosurgery Faculty Practice and is responsible for compliance with all UCSF Ambulatory Services and Medical Center policies and procedures for infection control, safety, administrative and clinical practice.

Qualifications

• Two years or more recent related RN experience within the last five years in Neurosciences, Neuro Intensive Care Unit, direct patient care of General Neurosurgery patients
• Demonstrated clinical competence and in-depth knowledge in neurosurgical nursing
• This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.

Preferred Qualification

• Three (3) years or more of RN clinical experience in-patient neurosurgery
• Three years or more of RN experience with Stroke patients
• CCRN Certification (Critical Care Registered Nurse)
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Required Licenses/Certifications

• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
• Current American Heart Association CPR Certification
