General Description

Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse - Neurology provides nursing care to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. The nurse is responsible for ensuring optimal patient care and collaborating with the healthcare team to meet patient needs.

• Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
• Administer and monitor prescribed medical treatments and interventions.
• Assist physicians during patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures and treatments.
• Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients; observe and intervene when necessary based on patients' physiological manifestations.
• Administer medications as prescribed.
• Initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous (IV) infusions and blood products.
• Deliver competent patient care and support patients throughout their treatment.
• Patient and Family Interaction:
• Share and discuss care plans with patients and their families, both during hospitalization and at the time of discharge.
• Inform patients and families about hospital procedures.
• Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel and departments.
• Delegate tasks to support staff to ensure effective patient care.

• Capability to maintain good working relationships with other healthcare team members.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.

Education

Required Education:

• Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  
  

Preferred Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher from an approved program.
  
  

Certifications & Licensure

Required Certifications & Licensure:

• Current RN License issued by the State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
