Job summary

Cayuse Holdings is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive occupational health services in a federal industrial environment. The RN will support medical surveillance, workers' compensation, and maintain health records. Midnight shift with potential flexible hours and weekends to ensure continuous Health Unit coverage.

Requirements include an active nursing license in DC area, CAOHC/NIOSH certificates within 30 days, CPR/AED, and background/credit checks. COHN-S encouraged.

Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted nursing license to practice in the Washington DC area (DC, MD, VA).
  • CAOHC certificate within 30 days of start date; applicant pays, reimbursement after contingencies met.
  • NIOSH spirometry certificate within 30 days of start date; applicant pays, reimbursement after contingencies met.
  • CPR certification is active; AED certification is active.
  • COHN-S certification encouraged but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and provides comprehensive nursing care with limited to no supervision.
  • Act as the nurse case manager for workers' compensation cases.
  • Provide occupational health services including audiometry, spirometry, immunizations, and follow-up.
  • Work with web-based occupational health software and MS Office Suite.
  • Assist the Medical Director with monitoring mailboxes and urgent matters.
  • Review spirometry tests (Pulmonary Function Test).
  • Review audiograms and manage audiometric databases.

Overview

The Work:

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive occupational health services in support of an on‑site Health Unit within a federal industrial/production environment. The RN plays a critical role in promoting a safe and healthy work environment, ensuring employee well‑being, and upholding the highest standards of medical care in an industrial and federal workplace setting. This position is responsible for delivering clinical care, supporting medical surveillance programs, managing workers’ compensation cases, and maintaining accurate occupational health and safety records. The RN will work the midnight shift and may be required to work flexible hours, including weekends or additional shift work, to ensure continuous coverage of the Health Unit.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plans and provides comprehensive nursing care with limited to no supervision.
  • Act as the nurse case manager for workers' compensation cases.
  • Provide all other services normally offered under an Occupational Health Medical Office Services to include audiometry, spirometry screenings, immunizations, and workers' compensation follow up.
  • Work with web-based computer systems, Occupational Health and Safety software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite software.
  • Assist the Medical Director with monitoring Local, State, and/or Federal mailboxes and inform the Medical Director of all urgent matters.
  • Review and interpret spirometry tests (Pulmonary Function Test).
  • Review audiograms, determine work-relatedness of hearing loss, follow-up work-related hearing loss, and manage audiometric databases.
  • Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocol.
  • Maintain work area, exam rooms, and supplies.
  • Maintain professional appearance and personal conduct at all times.
  • Attend meetings as requested.
  • Follow all policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to employer work practices as described in Cayuse policies.
  • Perform additional reports as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Qualifications – Here’s What You Need

  • Active, unrestricted nursing license to practice medicine in the Washington D.C. area (DC, MD, and VA).
  • Active Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) certificate within 30 days of start date. Applicant will be required to pay for the certification and will be reimbursed after all contingencies are met, a start date has been set, and employee begins work.
  • Active National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Spirometry (NIOSH) certificate within 30 days of start date. Applicant will be required to pay for the certification and will be reimbursed after all contingencies are met, a start date has been set, and employee begins work.
  • Active CPR certification.
  • Active AED certification.
  • Certified Occupational Health Nurse - S (COHN-S) (Encouraged, not required).
  • Must be able to pass a Tier one background check.
  • Must be able to pass a credit check.
  • Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

Reports to: Program Manager

Working Conditions:

  • Midnight shift position; specific hours will be determined and approved by the Manager/Director to ensure adequate coverage of the Health Unit.
  • The position may require flexible working hours, including potential weekend or shift work, to ensure continuous coverage and support for operations.
  • Work is performed in a clinical/occupational health setting within a federal facility, requiring strict adherence to safety, security, and confidentiality protocols.
  • Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position.
  • Must be able to establish a productive and professional workspace.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time looking at computer screen.
  • May be asked to work a flexible schedule which may include holidays.
  • May be asked to travel for business or professional development purposes.
  • May be asked to work hours outside of normal business hours.
