Job summary

Boston Medical Center (BMC) nurses are at the forefront of healthcare in Boston. This RN position in MICU A offers a 36-hour schedule on nights with rotating weekends in a Magnet-recognized organization focused on equitable care.

You will work in a two-MICU environment with critical care patients and a strong team-driven culture, enabling growth through training and leadership pathways.

Qualifications

• Active Massachusetts RN license or ability to obtain one.
• 1+ years RN experience preferred.
• BLS certification.
• ACLS certification required in certain units.
• Degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN; BSN within 4 years preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication; basic computer skills.
• Fluency in another language is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care in the Critical Care unit (assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, educating).
• Communicate with the health care team, patients, and families.
• Coordinate and delegate care to inter-professional colleagues.
• Update and manage patient records.
• Enter and interpret computerized data/information.
• Follow BMC nursing policies and guidelines.
• Assist leadership in quality improvement projects.

About the Critical Care/Medical Intensive Care Unit A & B Department at Boston Medical Center

Boston Medical Center has two medical intensive care units (MICUs). One consists of 17 beds (MICU A) and the other consists of 10 beds (MICU B). Patient populations on these units consist of the most acute medical patients including multisystem failure, renal failure, acute respiratory distress syndrome and sepsis.

Position Summary

As an RN in the Critical Care unit, you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional care. Using our patient-centered care model you will be uplifted by a supportive nursing organization, and will be able to deliver the excellent care to your patients that they deserve.

Job Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care in the Critical Care unit, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients
• Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their families
• Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues
• Update and manage patient records
• Enter and interpret computerized data/information
• Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC's nursing organization
• Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects

Job Requirements

• Must have active or pending Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license or the ability to obtain one.
• 1+ years of RN experience preferred
• Certification in basic life support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life support (ACLS) certification required in certain units
• Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years
• Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty, certification required for certain practice areas
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
• Basic computer proficiency
• Fluency in another language a plus

Compensation Range

$38.05- $75.33

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, and licensure/certifications directly related to position requirements.
