This position is eligible for a $2,500 sign-on bonus.

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse in the Medical and Post-Surgical Units provides direct nursing care to patients through assessment, creation of individualized plans of care, and implementation, coordination, and delivery of care within the hospital system.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Creates and implements a written plan of care addressing the specific needs and goals of each patient, making referrals as needed. Modifies the plan based on reassessment and patient response, delegating tasks appropriately.
  2. Observes, documents, and implements planned interventions, communicating the plan through accurate documentation and verbal reports, complying with policies and regulations.
  3. Performs procedures such as IV starts, blood administration, phlebotomy, and point of care testing under CLIA regulations.
  4. Administers medications accurately and timely, monitoring for side effects and patient responses.
  5. Transitions patients by communicating current care plans and providing timely reports to incoming staff.
  6. Advises physicians and family on patient condition changes, communicating clearly.
  7. Provides educational and discharge information to patients and families.
  8. May precept new employees and oversee care team members.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
  • Minimum: Graduate from an accredited nursing school by the date of hire.
  • Preferred: BSN.
Experience Requirements
  • Minimum: None.
  • Preferred: One year as a RN in a hospital setting.
License/Certification Requirements
  • RN license eligible in Indiana.
  • BLS certification (American Heart Association).
  • ACLS certification within six months of hire.
  • Telemetry certification within six months of hire (preferred).

Additional preferred certifications include Medical Surgical Care, Orthopedics, or Chemotherapy.
